2018 Spring Semester kickoff with video by Digital Media Arts graduate student

By Julie Pawlikowski, second year graduate student in the Media Management program

Welcome back to a new semester at Duquesne University! We in the Media department hope that you had both a fun and relaxing winter break and are ready to start learning again in the new year. There’s exciting stuff happening this semester that you don’t want to miss. We’ll have videos, photos, articles, artwork and events to share so make sure to check out the site for information and details.

Kick off this semester with a look at Digital Media Arts graduate student Yuan Zhuang’s video produced in Professor Healy’s Media Lab class. Zhuang produced a video on John Brewer, a historian at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum in Homewood. John Brewer has worked as an archivist for the Pittsburgh Courier and historian for African Americans in Pittsburgh from his position at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum. He manages one of the largest collections of photos shot by photographers for the Courier from the 1920s to the 1960s that capture much of the lives of black Pittsburghers from that time.
