Digital Media Arts student produces video on Amniotic Band Syndrome

By Julie Pawlikowski, second year graduate student in the Media Management concentration

Senior digital media arts major Sydney Bauer created a video exploring Amniotic Band Syndrome (ABS) by interviewing fellow senior digital media arts and public relations major, psychology minor Deanna Dicesere. Dicesere was born without her right arm from the elbow down and uses this as a motivation to inspire others.

The video was produced for the Principles of Audio and Video course taught by Professor Vota. For the final video, students were encouraged to tell a story on anything they desired and Bauer chose to tell Dicesere’s story.

“By telling Deanna’s story, I wanted people to understand that just because someone has a disability – physical or mental – there’s no reason they should be looked at any differently,” says Bauer. “They have the ability to achieve anything.”
