Former Duquesne University Media Student highlights Oakland book store

By Jacques Hinkson-Compton, second year graduate student in the Digital Media Arts concentration

Mathew Mustovich, former Duquesne University graduate student created a video highlighting Pittsburgh’s own Caliban book store. The store buys, sells and appraises items such as books, autographs, photographs and printed material. According to their website, Caliban carries everything from  quality paperback fiction, poetry and philosophy, to scholarly books in many fields, to rare books dating back to the 16th Century. Owner of Caliban book store, John Schulman launched the business enterprise back in 1991.

The store is unique in that it is also home to Desolation Row, a small, independent record store specializing in Indie Rock, Sixties Pop, Punk, Americana, Folk, Blues, and Jazz. The store can be found 410 South Craig Street.

The video was produced by Mustovich  for the Media Lab course as part of the Duquesne University Media Department graduate program. The purpose was to highlight parts of the Oakland area in Pittsburgh.
