The Duquesne Duke takes a look back at the top stories from the 90s

Operation Desert Storm, the fall of the Soviet Union, the Rodney King Riots in Los Angeles, California and Nelson Mandela’s election as South Africa’s first black head of state were some of the many momentous and historical events which occurred in the decade where most of Duquesne’s current students were born.

Editor of The Duquesne Duke newspaper, Raymond Arke, took a look back at the big events of the decade that still impact the world today. In this week’s editorial Arke highlighted some of the world’s major events which took place in the 1990s.
